Free renewal forecast

What should your client expect at renewal?

Pick the covers they hold and their claims. See where rates are heading for each, from the latest published market indices, and send them a branded forecast before the renewal lands.

Example figures. Change them to your client's.

1The covers your client holds

2Claims in the last three years

3Exposure

Does the client export to the United States?

US exposure is priced apart, even in a soft market.

4Renewal month (optional)

For the line you send the client. It doesn't change the forecast.

Quick game

Higher or lower?

Before you see the forecast, guess which way rates are heading for each cover.

  • Property and business interruption
  • Public and products liability
  • Motor fleet
  • Management liability and D&O
  • Professional indemnity

Illustrative only, not advice. The policy wording and the insurer decide. Nothing you type leaves your browser unless you make the PDF.

The market now

A soft market, but not for every cover

In plain English

What moves a renewal

Three things decide the number on the renewal notice: the market, the client's claims and how much risk they now carry.

  • The market sets the tide

When insurers have spare capital and good results, they compete on price. That is today's soft market, led by property.

  • Claims swim against it

A client with recent claims rarely gets the average fall. Insurers price their own experience of the client on top of the market.

  • Exposure moves the bill

Premium is rate times exposure. More turnover, more sites or US exports can push the premium up while the rate falls.

What to say

Three conversations, three scripts

The forecast gives you the facts. Here is how brokers put them to clients.

  • Rates falling, no claims

“The market is in your favour this year. Let's use some of the saving to raise your limits or add cover you've gone without.”

  • Rates falling, recent claims

“Most businesses will see falls, but insurers will look hard at your claims. We'll present the steps you've taken since to get the best terms.”

  • Rates rising

“This cover is getting dearer across the market. We'll start early and approach more insurers so you have options.”

How brokers use it

Three habits for a good renewal

  1. 1

    Set expectations early

Send the forecast 90 days out, so the renewal notice confirms what the client already knows rather than surprising them.

  2. 2

    Use a soft market well

When rates fall, review limits and broaden cover for little or no extra cost, rather than banking the whole saving.

  3. 3

Say what is market and what is them

Separate the market's move from the client's claims and growth. It keeps the conversation about facts, not blame.

Read the market: five renewal questions

Rates have fallen for two years running, but not everywhere and not for everyone. See how well you know where they are heading.

Question 1 of 5

In Marsh's index for Q2 2026, which way did global commercial insurance rates move?

Questions brokers ask

The renewal forecast, answered

Where do the ranges come from?
From the latest published market indices, mainly Marsh's quarterly Global Insurance Market Index and Aon's market updates. We read them into a range for each line and refresh them every quarter. The date is on the page and the PDF.
Is this a quote?
No. It is the market's average direction, with a simple allowance for claims and US exports. Each insurer prices each risk on its own terms.
How are claims allowed for?
One claim in three years adds 5 points to both ends of each range, several claims add 12. It is a rule of thumb to start the conversation, not an insurer's loading.
Why is workers compensation different?
State schemes set most workers compensation rates in Australia. Several are rising: WA's average rate went up 5.9% for 2026 to 2027.
Does it cover changes in the client's turnover?
No. The ranges are rate changes. A turnover rated premium also moves with turnover, so a growing client can pay more even when rates fall.
Is my client's data stored?
No. The forecast runs in your browser. Choices only leave it if you make the PDF, which goes to our report builder to print.
